Gratitude in Affliction

Psalms 119:65-72

At Thanksgiving, we sometimes specific gratitude for God’s blessings. However did you ever take into account thanking Him for one thing that does not appear to be a blessing—corresponding to a attempting circumstance you need Him to take away or change? A grateful coronary heart is most treasured to God when, humanly talking, our conditions do not warrant giving thanks. By making 4 foundational selections, we will start to see the worth of our adversities and reply with appreciation.

Consider and belief the Lord. Solely by viewing life from a scriptural perspective can we perceive His functions in our trials and belief His knowledge in permitting them.

Settle for the scenario as coming from God—both immediately despatched or permissively allowed. If we really consider He is working for our good (Rom 8:28-29), we will select to obtain every problem as coming from His loving hand. Then we will say “Thank You.”

Undergo God within the circumstance. Though we might not just like the scenario, figuring out that God “[is] good and does good” (v. 68) permits us to confidently place our lives beneath His authority.

Draw from Him the strength to endure. Nobody has the flexibility inside himself to endure hardships with gratefulness. Solely by counting on the Lord can believers undergo adversity with an appreciative coronary heart.

Now, take into consideration that circumstance you want to modified, and with a brand new mindset, provide this prayer to God: “Lord, I settle for this case as coming from You. In religion and belief, I place myself beneath Your loving authority, and draw from You the energy I must endure with gratitude.”
