Within the PCA, a presbytery is among the three courts of the church, located between the session and the Common Meeting. A presbytery has an outlined geography, whether or not it’s a metropolis (ex: Metro Atlanta) or a wider area (ex: Pacific Northwest). Inside this prescribed district, the presbytery has jurisdiction “over what’s frequent to the ministers, Classes, and church buildings” (Guide of Church Order 11-4).
Over the course of its historical past, the PCA has grown from 16 to 87 presbyteries. The dimensions of every presbytery differs, each within the variety of church buildings and the variety of communing members contained inside it.
